I have the AdvCTRL and the current AdvCTRL software doesn't get further development, see the topics about certain apps do not work any more.

I have "solved" this to install NGH and got new firmware for the AdvCTRL with it and everything is working.

BUT: I nowhave to use NGH. And I really don't need it!
It took me a while to just figure out how to get off NGH on my Samsung S23, meaning, how to switch to different apps as the bottom navigation bar of my phone isn't available any more.
If I start NGH now (what I have to do as AdvCTRL isn't working without), I instantly get NGH as fullscreen app opened.

Please think about people who do not have your new Carpe device and use AdvCTRL and other hardware.
I'd like to have NGH to stay in the background, but want to use my AdvCTRL.

Maybe there is a setting, but I haven't found it until now ...

I agree! Last year the Controller App was working perfectly with all the apps i use (Kurviger, DMD2, TomTom, Google maps etc.). Switched to NGH for getting Kurviger to work, but zoom in/out buttons are no longer registered (no longer able to remap) in DMD2. HUD in NGH works randomly. I do not the "fat/overhead" NGH commes with! I have Galaxy Tab Active 5 with a newer adv. controller and Galaxy S24 Ultra with an older adv. controller. Zoom buttons does not work with DMD2 and NGH - DMD2 does not register inputs, so they cannot be remaped. Switching back to the Controller app, they both work with DMD2 - but then does not work with Kurviger! The answer I get from Carpe-Iter is that DMD2 is working in their setup (great for them, but that does not help me!). They suggested signing op for NGH beta, which I did. However no new (beta) version of the NGH seems to be available!

I have no use for NGH currently, i too would like to use controller app and custom buttons for adv control.

This is what was and still is promised on DEVZone page "

custom profiles – you will be able to program your own control “maps” for each app or globally by selecting pre-programmed global commands. E.g. when Google Maps are in view and not all navigation options are required, e.g. media controls can be mapped on individual controller buttons (direct media control – it will not be necessary to go through the HUD).

It looks like this thread somehow slipped our attention. Guys, I honestly have no clue what you are talking about - all what you are complaining about normally works and has been working for a long time, including custom profiles. What was the last time you updated NGH? https://support.carpe-iter.com/support/solutions/articles/201000129773-how-to-install-and-update-ngh

Liebes Carpe Team,

Hello,

we understand the frustration, and we also understand that not every AdvCTRL user needs or wants to use the full NGH experience.

At the same time, NGH is not just another application from our side. It has become a crucial part of the Carpe Iter ecosystem and the way we maintain and develop the communication, configuration and functionality of our controllers. Because of this, the current generation of our hardware is designed to work through NGH, and we do not plan to continue developing the old Controller App as a completely independent solution.

This does not mean that we want to force everyone to use NGH as their navigation app or to use features they don't need. The idea is that NGH provides the underlying platform for the Carpe Iter hardware, while you remain free to use the navigation app of your choice.

We realise that the transition from the old Controller App to NGH has not been perfect for everyone, especially with some specific combinations of devices and third-party apps. We are continuing to work on compatibility and configuration, because the controller should ultimately be useful with the apps people actually use.

So we understand the point being made here. The direction with NGH is intentional, but that does not mean that we consider the current user experience finished or that compatibility issues should simply be dismissed as "working in our lab".

Thank you for the feedback.
